Uncanny Kickstarter, and Fireside Podcast

Uncanny Magazine is running their third year Kickstarter. They had a great run for the first two years, publishing brilliant award-winning stories, nonfiction, poetry, and art. These folks published my poem “Archival Testimony Fragments/minersong,” set in the Boundless universe; this poem was a Rhysling Award nominee, and was on the Locus Recommended Reading List. My Birdverse short story “The Desert Glassmaker and the Jeweler of Berevyar” appeared in Uncanny earlier this year.

To support the Kickstarter, I am offering a Birdverse reward at this tier:

$250: CUSTOM STORY JUST FOR YOU

Your choice of one of the following authors will create a custom, bespoke story, just for you (first come, first choice).

Rose Lemberg will offer a 1000 word Birdverse vignette with a theme of either “Food and Drink” or “Arts” (backer’s choice) for the backer’s enjoyment, which depicts either a meal or art/arts aspect of one of the cultures in Birdverse.

I cannot promise anything for sure, but the piece I create is likely to be longer than 1k — and I will also take your input for some of the details.

In other news, Fireside Fiction ran a lovely podcast discussing Pokémon Go and separately, my Birdverse novelette “Grandmother-nai-Leylit’s Cloth of Winds.” It is always such a treat when readers are enthusiastic about my work. I am especially happy they loved the worldbuilding – there is a lot more where this came from. A lot more.

(Yes, I really am writing a novel.)
